Brief
The municipality has an area of approximately 9550.454 square kilometers and a population of 95,054 inhabitants. Its economy is based on the extraction of palm, acai, wood and coal, in agriculture the focus is on cassava, rice, corn, orange, lemon and banana and livestock are cattle, pigs and buffalo.
Brief presents many sights, such as rivers and Parauhaú Pracaxi, the Strait of Breves formed by small islands and rivers. Another highlight is the Great Igarapé which has its dark coloration due to the vegetation of its banks as aquatic plants and palm trees.

In folklore are the highlight for Forrozão Marajoara Brevense and Folklore Festival, presented by several folk groups in the city through their dances as xote, stamp, mazurka and retumbão.
